The Department of Languages, Cultures and Literatures at the University of San Diego seeks an experienced and dynamic instructor to join our growing Chinese Program. This is a benefits-based full-time position with the possibility of renewal contingent on satisfactory performance, student enrollment, and approval of the College. The candidate must have demonstrated excellence in teaching both lower-division and upper-division Chinese language courses at a university or college, preferably with some experience teaching courses on Chinese literature, film and culture.
Requirements: We require an MA or PhD in Chinese language and culture, specifically, classical/pre-modern Chinese literature, modern Chinese literature, or related fields such as comparative literature or second language acquisition. Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States and, upon hire, will undergo a pre-employment background check.
Job description: Teaches six 3-unit courses per academic year; works with the program director to design and develop courses in the candidate’s area of expertise and to fulfill the university’s CORE requirements; applies for grants to support co-curricular activities; plans and organizes student activities; advises Chinese minors and the Chinese Club.
