The Chinese Section of the Department of Modern and Classical Languages at Western Washington University seeks applicants for a full-time, non-tenure-track, Visiting Assistant Professor for the 2021-22 academic year, starting September 16, 2021, to teach undergraduate Chinese language and content courses such as Chinese film and Chinese calligraphy. The successful candidate is expected to design their own teaching materials, develop classroom activities, and hold regular office hours. The anticipated full load will be six courses distributed across three quarters.
Required qualifications include a Ph.D. in hand or ABD near completion in Chinese literature, Chinese linguistics, or related degree with significant emphasis on Chinese culture; at least 2 years of experience teaching Chinese at the college level; native or native-like Chinese and English proficiency; and commitment to excellence in undergraduate teaching. Salary is commensurate with level of education and experience.
