Teaching Assistant Professor in Chinese Language (Washington, D.C.)
The Department of East Asian Languages and Literatures at The George Washington University (https://eall.columbian.gwu.edu/ ) invites applications for a full-time, specialized faculty appointment at the rank of Teaching Assistant Professor in Chinese Language, expected to begin Fall 2025. The initial term is 3 years and the position is renewable upon successful review.
The successful candidate is expected to teach all levels of Chinese language and culture with a 4-3 teaching load, actively engage in contemporary teaching approaches and use digital technologies and social media for teaching and service. They will also contribute to curriculum innovation, program enhancement, and academic and student events.
Minimum Qualifications: A doctoral degree in Chinese linguistics, culture, second language acquisition, pedagogy, or a related field; native or near-native fluency in Chinese and English; and evidence of excellence in teaching Chinese at the college level, as demonstrated by evaluations, are required. ABD applicants will be considered but must complete the doctoral degree by the date of appointment.
Salary of $75,000-$80,000, commensurate with qualifications and experience.
