Project Coordinator at Confucius Institute at Cleveland State University (Cleveland, OH)

JOB SUMMARY: Working with the Director of the Confucius Institute (CI), organizes and manages Chinese cultural programs of the Cleveland State University Confucius Institute. Provides complex administrative assistant in the areas of program/project planning, research development and special project support. Ensures the timely and effective provision of administrative support. Interacts professionally with all internal and external customers using strong interpersonal skills.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s degree in Asia or China Studies, Education, Communications, Accounting, Marketing, or related field. Native or near-native fluency in both Chinese and English languages. Three years relevant administrative experience. Knowledgeable in or interested in learning Chinese language and culture. Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, and strong interpersonal skills. Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Team-oriented. Detail-oriented, with ability to analyze problems and develop practical solutions. Skilled in word processing and database management, desktop publishing, and/or web site management. Ability to manage and reconcile fiscal records.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Advanced degree. Prior experience organizing and marketing language and/or cultural programs. Previous administrative experience in higher education. Successful experience collaborating with colleagues from the People’s Republic of China.
