The Department of World Languages and Cultures at the University of Utah invites applications for a full-time, renewable Chinese instructor (lecturer) position in Chinese beginning July 1, 2021. The teaching load is three courses per semester. The successful candidate will be prepared to teach Chinese language courses at all levels and content courses related to culture and media as well as to participate actively in curricular and program affairs. The candidate must have a Ph.D. degree in hand by the start date in Chinese pedagogy, linguistics, Chinese studies, or a related field. Demonstrated experience in teaching Chinese as a foreign language at the college level in North America and native or near-native fluency in Chinese and English is required. Adaptability with instructional technologies, experience practicing modern foreign language teaching methodologies, and demonstration of active participation in the professional field are highly desirable.
