This position has a key role in Brigham Young University’s Chinese Flagship Program. The incumbent will teach advanced language courses in the Chinese Flagship Program and will be involved in departmental development activities. Responsibilities include (a) assisting in training new Flagship faculty ; (b) hiring, supervising and training other Flagship graduate assistants, tutors and student instructors ; (c) interviewing and selecting students for program participation ; (d) providing feedback about student progress and language proficiency of each participant. Relevant teaching experience is required at the college level, preferably at the advanced level. Teaching experience with computer-aided instruction and online resources is preferred. The successful candidate will take a leadership role in working with advanced directed studies courses for Chinese Flagship students, independent study courses, and Chinese for special purposes.
Applicants are required to have a Ph.D. in Chinese language, linguistics, or related field. Required degree must be in hand by the start date.
