CLTA STUDY ABROAD SITE VISIT AWARD
Initiated by the Associated Colleges in China (ACC), a study abroad program in China administered by Hamilton College, this award supports site visits to study abroad programs in China and Taiwan. The primary goal of this award is to help teachers to gain insight into their students’ learning processes in the target language setting, and encourage teachers to design effective instruction to advance students’ linguistic and cultural competencies beyond study abroad programs. The study abroad programs to be visited should not be established by the applicant’s home institution.
Award and Eligibility
The CLTA Awards Committee intends to select one recipient for this award. The recipient will receive $1,000 to defray the cost of the trip, though the level of support, as well as number of recipients, may increase when more funding is secured in the future. The recipient will be expected to submit a short follow-up report, which will be posted on the CLTA Forum, to share his/her experiences with the general CLTA membership, as well as the donors.
All full-time K-16 teaching professionals with at least three years of teaching or administrative experience and active CLTA member status are eligible to apply. However, CLTA members who are serving on the Awards Committee are not eligible to apply for this award due to a conflict of interest.
