Assistant Professor of Instruction (Evanston, IL)
NORTHWESTERN UNIVERSITY and the Department of Asian Languages and Cultures invite applications for a full-time, benefits eligible, non-tenure track, Assistant Professor of Instruction in Chinese language to begin September 1, 2025. The successful candidate will work with existing faculty members in the Chinese Language Program and must be able to teach the novice to advanced Chinese language courses for both heritage and non-heritage language learners. Duties include a six-course teaching load (typically two courses per quarter) at all levels for heritage and non-heritage learners. Applicants are required to have a Ph.D. degree by the time of appointment in foreign language pedagogy, second language education, Chinese language/linguistics, applied linguistics, or other related fields; teaching experience in U.S. higher education; and native or near-native proficiency in both Chinese and English. Salary
The expected base pay range for this position is $65,000 – $75,000.
This base pay range is for a nine-month academic appointment, does not include summer salary, and is subject to negotiation.
