Part-Time Chinese Instructor (Lexington, Virginia 24450)

The Department of East Asian Languages and Literatures at Washington and Lee University invites applications for a part-time Chinese Instructor position to begin in August 2025, with the possibility of renewal based on funding and performance. This position carries a 4-course teaching load distributed over Fall and Winter terms (12 weeks each). Responsibilities include teaching Chinese language courses at all levels and actively engaging in departmental activities.

Qualifications
Master’s degree or higher in Chinese language and literature, Teaching Chinese as a Second Language, Linguistics, Second Language Acquisition, or related fields; native or near-native fluency in both Chinese and English; demonstrated excellence in teaching Chinese at the college level in the United States; experience in teaching various proficiency levels; strong intercultural communication skills and ability to collaborate with colleagues on extracurricular language initiatives.
