Assistant Professor (Lecturer) of Chinese – Department of World Languages & Cultures (Salt Lake City, UT)
The Department of World Languages and Cultures at the University of Utah invites applications for a full-time, renewable Assistant Professor (Lecturer) position in Chinese beginning July 1, 2025. The teaching load is three courses per semester. The successful candidate will be prepared to teach Chinese language courses at all levels and content courses including Chinese popular culture and/or social media, as well as to participate actively in curricular and program affairs. The candidate must have a Ph.D. degree in hand by the start date in Chinese Pedagogy, Linguistics, Second Language Acquisition, or a related field. Demonstrated experience in teaching Chinese as a foreign language at the college level in North America and native or near-native fluency in Chinese and English are required. Adaptability with instructional technologies, experience practicing modern foreign language teaching methodologies, and demonstration of active participation in the professional field are highly desirable.
