About Us

Phoenix Tree Publishing Inc., a subsidiary of Beijing Language and Culture University Press (BLCUP), was established in Chicago in 2011 as the first university press to set foot in North America. We provide high-quality Chinese language and culture resources, including textbooks, educational products, and cultural creative items, to K-16 schools and individual learners across North America. Our mission is to support Chinese language teachers and promote Chinese culture globally.

Due to business expansion, we are now hiring for the following positions in Chicago:

  1. Project Specialist – Phoenix Tree International Education Center
  2. Marketing Assistant
  3. Volunteers (Multiple Openings)

Note: For eligible candidates, we offer OPT support and H1B sponsorship after employment. 

Position 1: Project Specialist – Phoenix Tree International Education Center

Responsibilities:

  1. Lead and manage innovative projects for international Chinese education in North America, including market development, client needs assessment, technical support, implementation, quality control, and post-project services. Key projects include:
    • “International Chinese Teacher” certification programs
    • Language training programs
    • HSK test preparation courses
  2. Develop and launch new Chinese education initiatives tailored to the North American market.
  3. Identify training needs for educational institutions and design customized courses.
  4. Promote and oversee project operations and related products.

Requirements:

  1. Master’s degree or higher (preferred majors: International Chinese Education, Linguistics, or related fields).
  2. Teaching or training experience in Chinese as a second language (domestic or overseas); prior experience in North America is a plus.
  3. Strong English proficiency (written and spoken); overseas study experience preferred.
  4. Ability to work under pressure, maintain a positive attitude, and adapt to overtime or business trips when needed.
  5. Excellent communication, coordination, and project management skills.
  6. Proficiency in multimedia tools (e.g., video/photo editing, WeChat public account operation, PPT design) is a plus.

 

Position 2: Marketing Assistant

Responsibilities:

  1. Analyze past and current marketing strategies for Chinese teaching materials in the U.S. K-16 market.
  2. Conduct regional market research on teaching needs, design/execute campaigns, and perform statistical analysis.
  3. Evaluate the performance of Chinese immersion programs in North America and Asia using sales databases.
  4. Lead digital marketing projects, optimize KPIs/ROI, and track metrics via tools like Google Analytics, Hootsuite, and Tableau.
  5. Analyze consumer demographics and membership data to guide product development and cross-selling opportunities.
  6. Mine sales data to identify potential clients and optimize marketing campaigns.
  7. Research Mandarin teaching methodologies and translate findings into actionable insights for product development.
  8. Assess the impact of book fairs and online advertisements.
  9. Monitor website traffic (www.phoenixtree.com) and improve SEO.
  10. Customize CRM systems (e.g., MikeCRM, Oracle SQL Developer).

Requirements:

  1. Master’s degree in marketing Analytics or a related field.
  2. Fluency in both Chinese and English (written and spoken).
  3. 1+ years of publishing sales experience; 2+ years in marketing research.
  4. Knowledge of SAP systems and advanced Microsoft Office skills.
  5. Strong stress management, accountability, and interpersonal skills.

Volunteer Opportunities

We also welcome volunteers for the Marketing and Finance departments. Volunteers will receive recommendation letters and generous stipends.
