2017-18 Job Opening: Upper School Mandarin Teacher
St. Luke’s School is a secular, college-preparatory day school serving grades 5 through 12. Primary Job Responsibilities:
Teach full-time course load of four or five Upper School Mandarin classes
Participate in an after-school activity for three seasons (athletic coaching preferred)
Serve as co-advisor for a group of 6 to 8 students
Assist with duties such as lunchroom supervision, study hall and chaperoning events
Continuously develop and nurture a thriving Mandarin program at St. Luke’s beyond language acquisition, including exchange programs, clubs, and curricular connections.
Key Skills and Qualities:
Inspiring, positive, flexible, collaborative teacher
Excellent oral and written communication skills in both English and Mandarin
Experience teaching at the high school level
Experience using technology creatively and working in a 1:1 teaching environment
Experience teaching in an independent school and/or teaching in online or blended environments
Passion for innovation and creative problem solving
Interest in and enthusiasm for leadership education as defined above
