The Department of Asian Studies at The Pennsylvania State University invites applications for a full-time lecturer in Chinese, starting August 2017. This position will offer benefits and may be renewable. Salary is competitive. Responsibilities include teaching all levels of Chinese and active participation in teamwork and programmatic development. Teaching load is six courses per year. Minimum requirements include a Master’s degree in Chinese linguistics, Chinese pedagogy or a related field; native or near-native command of both Chinese and English; experience in teaching Chinese as a Foreign Language at the college level in the U.S.; evidence of effective and high quality teaching; and familiarity with current methods and technologies in foreign language teaching. Qualified candidates should submit a cover letter including teaching philosophy, CV, a sample syllabus, the names of three references, and a link to an online video of a thirty-minute Chinese language teaching.
