Full-Time Lecturer of Chinese (Atlanta, GA)

The Department of World Languages & Cultures at Georgia State University anticipates hiring a full-time, non-tenure track, Lecturer in Chinese for the 2018-2019 academic year effective August 2018 (Fall semester) pending budgetary approval.

Applicants must possess a Ph.D. in Chinese applied linguistics, Chinese pedagogy, or cultural studies (e.g., Chinese literature, Chinese media, etc.) and must have native or near-native fluency in Chinese and English. Applicants must have rich experience of teaching Chinese language courses in U.S. universities/colleges. The Chinese lecturer will be expected to teach Chinese language courses across proficiency levels as well as content courses in English with a 4-4 workload. The search committee will give particular consideration to candidates with interest and experience in designing and teaching technology-assisted classes (e.g., online, or hybrid) and in designing and teaching upper-division language and content courses. Additionally, the successful candidate will be expected to participate in recruitment, academic advisement, evaluation of transfer credits, supervision of Graduate Teaching Assistants and instructors from the Confucius Institute, and other matters related to the Chinese program.
