Chinese Language Teacher (Sewanee, TN)

St. Andrew’s-Sewanee School (www.sasweb.org) seeks a Chinese language teacher with an undergraduate and/or advanced degree in Chinese or a related field.

Responsibilities will include:

• Teaching four sections of language to students in grades 6-12
• Participating in departmental planning and curricular review
• Serving as an advisor
• Assisting with evening and weekend campus activities and supervision

Additional responsibilities will include coaching and/or teaching an afternoon program.

Qualifications – Candidates will be expected to have an undergraduate and/or advanced degree in Chinese language or a related field, a commitment to teaching, a willingness to fully participate in a boarding school environment, and an aptitude for responding with empathy to a diverse community of learners. Applicants with prior teaching experience, boarding school experience, interest in and experience with outdoor education, and/or the ability to coach a sport will be given special consideration.

Compensation – This is a full-time, academic year position. Salary is dependent on education and experience; teachers are given salary credit for teaching experience.
