NYU Abu Dhabi is currently inviting applications for a full time, non-tenure track position at the rank of Lecturer of Chinese Language with a course load of 3/3 courses per academic year. This appointment will begin in late August 2017 (fall semester of 2017). The appointee will join a developing Chinese language program in an exciting linguistic and cultural context. Salaries are competitive with a generous benefits package that includes relocation, housing allowance, transportation allowance, medical insurance, educational subsidies for children and home leave travel. The appointment is for up to three years with the possibility of renewal.
An M.A. in the Chinese Language, Chinese Literature, Second Language Acquisition, or a related field is required. Candidates possessing a Ph.D. will be given preference. We seek candidates with a strong ability to teach Mandarin Chinese at all levels; a minimum of 4 years of experience of teaching college level Chinese independently; a proven record of teaching Chinese effectively to English speaking learners, especially to non-heritage learners; and familiarity with computer aided technology in teaching. Experience in developing course materials is also required. Good interpersonal skills to collaborate with colleagues and actively interact with students in a multicultural education setting are highly desirable.
