Chinese Language Lecturer (Bloomington, Indiana)

The Department of East Asian Languages and Cultures at Indiana University Bloomington seeks a full-time lecturer in Chinese language to assume appointment in August 2019. Teaching load is three courses per semester. Duties include teaching Chinese language at all levels and active involvement with development of both the Chinese Language Program and Chinese Flagship Program within the Hamilton Lugar School of Global and International Studies. The position will be initially appointed with a 3-year contract renewable annually and eligible for promotion to senior lecturer and long-term contracts in the sixth year, assuming positive reviews and excellent performance.

Basic Qualifications:
Required: Master’s degree or higher in Chinese language, language pedagogy, linguistics or applied linguistics, or related field; native or near-native proficiency in both Chinese and English; prior experience and demonstrated success in teaching Chinese at the college level in the United States.

Preferred Qualifications:
Familiarity with assessment and ACTFL Proficiency Guidelines and training in Chinese pedagogy.
